Ceramic Coating
The protection itself, applied to paint that has been decontaminated, assessed and refined to an agreed standard first.

Durable paint protection applied properly, on the county we work in every week. The coating is the last step: the paint is decontaminated, assessed and refined first, because a coating locks in whatever finish is underneath it.

The honest diagnosis
Ceramic coating is often sold as a shortcut to a perfect car. It is not. It is a hard, semi-permanent layer that makes maintenance easier and holds gloss and water behaviour for far longer than wax or sealant. What it does not do is remove swirls, fill scratches or fix a tired finish. Anything left in the paint stays there, sealed under the coating, for as long as the coating lasts.
That is why the preparation matters more than the product. A proper job means removing bonded contamination, decontaminating the paint chemically and mechanically, assessing defects under correct lighting, machine polishing to the level agreed, then panel-wiping to a clean surface before anything is applied. Skipping that is how coatings end up looking worse at six months than the paint did before.
Being Livingston-based changes the practical side. We are not quoting a coating for West Lothian and then squeezing preparation, correction and curing into one rushed visit because of the drive. Multi-stage work can be split sensibly across the time it actually needs.
Treatment options
These are the strongest matches for West Lothian. Prices come from the main service catalogue and rise only where vehicle size, condition or the treatment specification changes.

The treatment standard stays fixed. Access, vehicle condition and the space available determine whether the mobile setup is right for the job.
Coatings need clean, dry paint and a protected curing window. A garage or carport is ideal. Without one, we will say so and recommend a durable sealant or a different plan rather than gamble on a dry spell.
West Lothian cars pick up grit, salt and motorway film through the M8 and M9 winter. A coated finish releases that contamination more easily and makes safe maintenance washing quicker, which is where most owners see the value.
Two identical cars can need very different preparation. A nearly new finish may need a light refinement; a neglected daily driver may need enhancement or multi-stage correction first. We quote the preparation honestly instead of hiding it in a package name.
The VDS treatment plan
01
Send the West Lothian postcode, vehicle details and honest photos. We identify the likely service and flag anything that needs an inspection.
02
You get a clear treatment, price basis, expected result and access requirements. If a smaller package will solve it, that is what we recommend.
03
We complete the agreed work, inspect the finish and hand the vehicle back with the aftercare that applies to the service—not a generic sales script.

Practical coverage
This is a useful coverage guide, not a promise that every street suits every service. Postcode, access, weather and—for coating work—shelter are confirmed before booking.
Cloudy headlights, engine-bay grime or a persistent cabin smell may need a separate treatment. Send your postcode and photos; we confirm access, suitability and availability before booking.
Straight answers
No. A coating protects the finish it is applied over. Defects must be corrected by machine polishing beforehand or they stay visible underneath. That correction is a separate stage and is quoted on the paint's actual condition.
A sheltered space is strongly preferred. The paint has to be clean and dry at application and protected while the coating cures. If nothing suitable is available we will tell you and suggest a sealant-based alternative rather than apply a coating in unsuitable conditions.
Durability depends on the product, the preparation and how the car is washed and stored afterwards. We give a realistic expectation for the specific coating being used and explain the maintenance that keeps it performing, rather than quoting a headline figure.
Sometimes. If the paint is sound and you intend to keep the car, a coating makes maintenance easier and holds gloss. If the finish needs heavy correction the car may not warrant, a good sealant is often the more sensible spend and we will say so.
