New Car Protection
The core service: inspection, decontamination, a light refinement of delivery marks and durable protection applied properly.
See prices and inclusionsBefore the first wash goes wrong
A new car is not automatically a perfect one. Transport film, dealer preparation and the first few automatic washes leave marks that are far easier to deal with now than in two years. This is the inspection, refinement and protection stage, done before the damage accumulates.

Service first. Location second. The same preparation standard wherever the van is working.
The honest diagnosis
Cars arrive at dealerships covered in transport film and protective wax, then get prepared for handover under time pressure. That preparation is a clean, not a detail. It is common to collect a brand new car already carrying light wash marring, buffer trails from a rushed machine polish, or contamination that was never chemically removed. None of it is scandalous, but none of it is what people assume they are getting.
Doing the protection work early is cheaper and better. The paint is at its thickest, defects are at their lightest, and a single refinement pass will usually get the finish to a genuinely high standard. Waiting two years means paying for correction to undo damage that could have been prevented.
Dealer paint protection is often sold at handover as an add-on. Some of it is decent, much of it is a sealant applied over unprepared paint at a significant markup. We are not going to pretend every dealer product is worthless, but the value is in the preparation, and that is the part that gets skipped when a car is being turned around for collection.
Treatment options
These are the strongest matches for Edinburgh. Prices come from the main service catalogue and rise only where vehicle size, condition or the treatment specification changes.

Treated glass is a genuine visibility improvement through an Edinburgh winter and is simplest to apply on new glass.
See prices and inclusionsLocal fit
The treatment standard stays fixed. Access, vehicle condition and the space available determine whether the mobile setup is right for the job.
The ideal window is shortly after you take delivery, before the car has been through a supermarket jet wash or an automatic brush. Tell us your collection date and we will work back from it.
Tight Edinburgh street parking, kerbing and trolley knocks do more visible harm than mileage does. Protection helps with the paint surface; it does not stop physical damage, and we will not claim otherwise.
If you have a garage or allocated covered bay, coating work is straightforward. If the car lives on the street, a durable sealant is often the more honest recommendation than a coating cured in unsuitable conditions.
The VDS treatment plan
01
Send the Edinburgh postcode, vehicle details and honest photos. We identify the likely service and flag anything that needs an inspection.
02
You get a clear treatment, price basis, expected result and access requirements. If a smaller package will solve it, that is what we recommend.
03
We complete the agreed work, inspect the finish and hand the vehicle back with the aftercare that applies to the service—not a generic sales script.

Practical coverage
This is a useful coverage guide, not a promise that every street suits every service. Postcode, access, weather and—for coating work—shelter are confirmed before booking.
Cloudy headlights, engine-bay grime or a persistent cabin smell may need a separate treatment. Send your postcode and photos; we confirm access, suitability and availability before booking.
Straight answers
It varies. The product is usually less important than the preparation, and handover preparation is rarely a detailing standard. If you have already paid for it, we will inspect what is actually on the car and tell you honestly whether more work is worthwhile.
Often it needs a light refinement rather than correction. Transport film, dealer washing and rushed machine work leave marks that show up under proper lighting. It is usually a single gentle stage, not a multi-stage job, precisely because we are catching it early.
As soon as is practical, and ideally before the car goes through any automatic wash. The earlier it is done, the less correction is needed and the better the protected finish will be.
Then a coating may not be the right choice, because it needs a protected curing period. A durable sealant applied over properly prepared paint is frequently the better recommendation, and we will say so rather than sell the more expensive option.
